Support for Carers of All Kinds

Carers of All Kinds ~ Drop-in Sessions

Because every carer deserves support, connection and a space to breathe.

Caring for others can be incredibly rewarding, but we know it can also be demanding, exhausting and, at times, feel like a lot to carry on your own.

Whether you’re a foster carer, kinship carer, parent carer, stepping stones provider, family member supporting someone you love, or caring in another capacity - you’re welcome here.

Our drop-in sessions are a relaxed, friendly space where you can take a breath, have a cuppa, unwind and spend time with people who understand the realities of caring.

There’s no pressure to talk or share. Come along for a chat, a bit of company, some friendly advice, or simply a chance to have some time for yourself. You can share experiences, ask questions, listen to others or just enjoy being somewhere you feel understood and supported.

You don’t have to have all the answers, and you don’t have to do it alone.

Come along, take a break, and connect with other carers in a warm and welcoming space.

Fortnightly on a Thursday   |   10am–12pm   |   Term time only

Further Independent Support

When it comes to fostering, protecting yourself and having access to the right independent professional support is essential. Foster carers often face unique challenges, and as an unrecognised workforce, it’s vital to have strong support systems in place - especially in the event of an allegation.

Allegations are, unfortunately, a reality for foster carers. Statistics indicate that many foster carers will face an allegation at some point during their career. These situations can be stressful, isolating, and deeply impactful, making it crucial to have independent advocacy and guidance to navigate the process.

From our personal experience, we recommend these two organisations that are run by foster carers, for foster carers:

National Union of Professional Foster Carers
Foster Wiki

Both provide experienced, independent support, offering advice, advocacy, and representation tailored to foster carers. While there are other organisations available, these two stand out for their focus on understanding the realities of fostering and their commitment to supporting carers through challenging times.

Remember, being prepared isn’t about expecting the worst - it’s about ensuring you have the right tools and support if you ever need them.
